![]() ![]() I’d often expected to find him patrolling the halls, though I honestly had no clue what the daily responsibilities of an Exodus agent were. As the days slugged on, I’d been left with nothing but my own thoughts, and they often left me wondering if Alvin was going to walk through that door. Unwittingly, my eyes drifted to the door. Keegan, Rowen, Elize - I would have to tell them all about Alvin, wouldn’t I? That all along… Though it meant securing my freedom, the thought of Sharilton formed a knot in my stomach. What about a weapon? Would he have the foresight to supply me with one, at the very least? The highroad would be crawling with monsters, and without the means to defend myself I’d never make it back to Sharilton. He’d show up, unlock my cuff, and get me to the vent. Boris and I hadn’t had much of a chance to talk besides the basics. Instead, I did my best to formulate a plan. I needed what little strength I had left to get out of here. ![]() If I started to expend any of the nervous energy brimming inside of me, I’d burn myself out. My legs itched for me to stretch them, to pace around the confines of my cell like the caged rat I was. I’d grown accustomed to the pain, but it didn’t make it any easier to stomach. The ache clouding my vision was, at this point, a constant. I’d been curled up in my cell since the serum dose earlier that day, a tonic of nausea and nerves making it impossible to find sleep. Though I had no way of seeing outside, I could feel the night pressing in on me. ![]()
